Full of humor and emotional depth, this fresh adaptation of Austen’s treasured novel comes to life at the Outdoor Forest Theater in a bright, bold, and theatrical way. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, Sense and Sensibility follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father's sudden death leaves them penniless and with reputations at stake. Together the women must learn to mix sense with sensibility to find happiness in a society where love is ruled by money. This timeless story of love and betrayal takes on a breathless new life in this production. The strong sisters will make their way in a swirling world of gossip, heartbreak, and the pressure to be perfect, keeping each other afloat with their true devotion.

Kate Hamill’s adaptation has married the classic novel with modern theatricality, where descriptive narrative is replaced by clever staging to engage the audience's imagination. The result is a “fast paced, dynamic form of storytelling that is foot forward, transformative, and fun!

Sense and Sensibility is directed by Kenneth Kelleher, with original music composed by David Eakin, and movement directed by Sydney Schwindt. The play features the talents of Anjoli Aguilar, Kristin Brownstone, Jeffrey T. Heyer, Matthew Kropschot, Jennifer Le Blanc, Nick Mandracchia, Caitlin Papp, Sydney Schwindt, Bri Slama, and Michael Ray Wisely.
